About the Job
VanWest College is seeking a Co-op Coordinator to support students in achieving meaningful and successful co-op experiences. This role is responsible for coordinating all co-op-related requirements, providing administrative support in accordance with college policies, and delivering career planning, job search, and employment advising services.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and student-focused, with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities

1. Documentation & Administration
  •  Manage all co-op-related, mandatory, and time-sensitive student documentation in accordance with VanWest College policies and protocols 
  •  Maintain accurate and organized student records (both physical and digital) 
  •  Administer and monitor students’ bi-weekly reporting, ensuring compliance and performance tracking 
  •  Provide guidance and support to improve student reporting quality and consistency 
  •  Schedule and conduct regular site visits for students working off campus 
  •  Liaise with employers to gather feedback, seek referrals, and identify future employment opportunities 
2. Student Advising, Career Support & Workshops
  •  Provide individualized guidance to help students develop realistic co-op goals and work experience plans aligned with their program 
  •  Assist students in preparing and improving professional resumes and cover letters 
  •  Conduct interview preparation sessions (one-on-one and group) 
  •  Plan, develop, and deliver workshops on topics such as resume writing, job search strategies, interview skills, workplace readiness, and professional communication 
  •  Facilitate group workshops and presentations for new and continuing co-op students 
  •  Meet with students by appointment to provide ongoing support and coaching 
  •  Prepare for new term intakes, including co-op orientations, student profile creation, and updating student records 
  •  Communicate accurate and up-to-date information regarding co-op processes, requirements, and expectations 
3. Employer Engagement & Job Development
  •  Support the development of co-op employer partnerships through networking, outreach, and relationship building 
  •  Identify potential employers by researching job boards, industry directories, and market trends 
  •  Promote VanWest College to prospective employers and encourage participation in the co-op program 
  •  Assist in organizing and participating in job fairs and employer engagement events 
4. Reporting & Supervision
  •  Report to and receive direction, training, and support from the Co-op Coordinator Lead 
  •  Contribute to team reporting and continuous improvement initiatives 
Qualifications
  •  Post-secondary education in a relevant field such as Business, Human Resources, Marketing, Communications, or Social Work 
  •  Experience in administrative roles, recruitment, or customer/client service 
  •  Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines 
  •  Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills 
  •  Ability to take initiative and work both independently and collaboratively 
Assets:
  •  Experience in student advising, career counselling, or employment services 
  •  Experience in facilitating workshops or group training sessions 
  •  Familiarity with co-op or work-integrated learning programs
